Amarillo, West Texas to Roswell, New Mexico

So, today we worked out some bugs in this blogspot. (Well, I tried but still can't upload photos directly from the computer.  I have to do an upload to a Picasa web album first.)  Therefore we left Amarillo later than desired, mid-morning, and went past unbelievablely large cattle yards and dairies located on flat, flat dry land.

It was very interesting to watch tumbleweeds racing across the road.  I only hit one.
A captured tumbleweed.

We arrived in Roswell, New Mexico, the "Dairy capital of the Southwest." It is located in the Pecos valley.  Remember that tall tale of Pecos Bill?  We went to Bitter Lake National Wildlife Refuge which is right along the river and saw lots of sandhill cranes, snow geese, ducks, and harriers.  But Bruce can tell you more about that.

One last Roswell promotional thought-94,000 dairy cows in 30 dairies in the surrounding countryside, and one big mozzarella cheese factory in town.  So if you've eaten pizza at Pizza Hut, Domino's, or Pappa John's most likely the cheese began it's journey from here!
